Project Description: rETERNAL reimagines nature’s principles of growth and self-organization as a dynamic circular art installation. Composed of 1,450 pre-cut timber pieces, the pavilion takes inspiration from bio-intelligent systems, where natural forms emerge through local interactions and simple rules.

By integrating computational design, augmented reality, and circular economy practices, rETERNAL transforms discarded materials into an evolving work of art. Using Microsoft HoloLens 2, participants become co-creators, guided by holographic overlays that suggest the optimal placement of each wooden piece, ensuring both structural stability and artistic expression.

Invited competition: INVENTORY CONSTRAINED DESIGN
A design competition putting the spotlight on parametric design and advanced manufacturing processes to give new life and purpose to a pile of unwanted wood. The 1,450 feet overstock of pre-cut lengths of resilient black locust wood from a cancelled project could have been destined for the dump. Instead, Eventscape chose to take action on the environment impact of this and offer not only the building material but also its consulting support in digital and robotic fabrication workflows to realize the winning scheme. RFPs were sent to leading academic and research institutions and three shortlisted submissions will be judged by a jury of industry professionals as well as recognize a People’s Choice winner.
