Project Description: The BacTerra project utilizes Bacillus subtilis bacteria and robotic printing techniques to transform soil into bio-composites for construction. This innovative approach creates self-healing, sustainable materials that reduce environmental impact while rethinking traditional construction practices, combining architecture, biology, and design to address global challenges in resource efficiency and sustainability. The project was recognized with the Outstanding Science Award at the Biodesign Challenge.
